Paradise Part 2.

This post will be shorter. Our stay in Yap was only 2 days with less to see. Its a much smaller island. The biggest part of Yap is the Stone Money. Stone Money was actual legal tender back in the day. The original islanders would travel to other islands, mostly Palau, on rafts, cut these huge stones out and try and sail back to Yap alive. Due to the difficultly in obtaining the stones the bigger the stone, and the more you have, the more wealthy you supposedly are. We were able to visit the Stone Money Bank. This money has actual registered owners.
This is a home in Yap, notice the Stone Money sitting by the front door. There are 2 downed aircrafts in Yap. The first, is a WWII B-52 (I think) and the second is a Continental Flight that crashed 10 years ago. Apparently they had an emergency landing and tried to use the old WWII landing strip. The wreckage is just 20 feet apart.
Another downed WWII plane. You can still see the bullet holes in the wings.

These are the MAN HOUSES. Yes, that is what they are called. The men have gathered in these for generations. They use them to talk politics and prepare for fishing trips. Other Randoms....
The basketball hoop behind the ward building.

A good example of the mangrove trees growing right out of the ocean.

Our view in Yap. This is just a little right of our room. Its the hotel pool and the boat is actually a restaurant.

From there, it was another flight back to Guam, this one taking off at 4 a.m. and landing at 5:30. We slept until 10 a.m., then left Guam at 6:30 a.m. the next day. Thanks to an 8 hour layover in Japan, the return trip took us 29 hours to get home. How Mike and Gayla do it with the odd hours of flights, Nate and I will never know.

Some people have asked how the kids did while we were gone. They were better for my Mom than they ever are for me. My parents picked us up from the airport and Jordan still had to sit by Grandpa. They started to leave and Jordan asked if he could go play with Grandma at her house. For 2 days, Bella called me Grandma instead of Mom and then Jordan informed me he didn't like me, he only loved Grandma. I think I should go on another Vacation!!!
